How does it feel to win a contest? Of course, you'd feel happy. Well, I've won contests before. How about winning a promo contest? Ok, let’s have the JF-Manila event as an example. If you were in (EDSA) Shangri-La last February then you’d remember the display of J-Artists where we had the privilege listening to J-Pop CDs, for free.
During the “display days”, listeners were given a survey form. Just filling it up gave one an entry “form” where you could win a CD. Of course, there’s nothing wrong joining so I did.
Two days ago, someone from Japan Foundation-Manila called. She was looking for moi. Well, she called to tell me that I won a CD. Yokatta!!
I was told that I can claim my prize in Pacific Star Bldg. Hades, I never knew where on Manila is that. But of course, she gave me the address. Still, I don’t know how to get there so I asked tito kenji (a friend actually) for directions.
While inside the FX, I’ve been thinking how to get to JF-M office as soon as possible. I only got less than 30 minutes. I asked the FX driver if we’ll pass PSB. The answer was no so I was just dropped in The Manila Peninsula.
I was supposed to ride on a jeep but none passed. Also, a police officer told me that I can walk from TMP to PSB. There’s no problem walking. I was just worried about time. 10 more minutes and they’re already closed.
Unlike in PS games, I don’t usually get lost in real life. I found Pacific Star Building. I’ve seen it before; I just didn’t know its name. I got inside the building and sped to the elevator. According to Shiela it’s on 12th floor. But I saw no “12” in the elevator buttons so I decided to go to the 15th floor. I thought, there should be 12th floor, but where? I used the elevator (again) to get to the right floor. Still then, there was no “12”. When I left the elevator, I was back in the ground floor.
I was running out of time so I decided to ask the receptionist (tama ba?).
“This is the Pacific Star Building, right?”
“How do I get to the twelfth floor?” (bulol pa ako sa “r”)
*points* “The other side, ma’am.”
“Ok. Thank you.”
Phew! Finally, I made it to the twelfth floor. Well, I entered the office like a kid trying to conceal his excitement. Can’t help it.
I got CORE OF SOUL Natural Beauty. Heehee… My favourite band! Btw, I also had my picture taken twice. Of course, for documentation. =p
Before I left, I asked them if they have Pacific Friend. I was hoping to subscribe. But they said it’s already Nippon Friend (if my memory’s doing fine). Anyway, they gave me a copy of Nipponia (15 March) 2005.
